Frequently Asked Questions

Question:  What is so special about Russian Woman?
Answer:  Russian woman is valued in the whole world because husband, family, home is on the first place for her, and work and public activity are after this. It has always been this way in Russia. And this is well! Agree that feminism, emancipation - are not the best invention of humanity. History showed that countries where women-Amazons left home and did men's occupations disappeared from the face of the Earth.
I won't speak about the beauty of Russian women. You can see photos in a catalogue and be sure in this yourself. And now imagine that this treasure is near you. So close that you can touch and feel this yourself.
The thing is that Russian education is such that Russian woman has a command of various sciences and you can make not only sex with her, but also talk about any topics.
Russian woman has another wonderful quality. Some time ago you were small and your mother caressed you, told tender words, washed your shirts, mended your trousers, baked tasty cakes and sang lullabies to you before sleeping. So the peculiarity of Russian woman is that during the whole her life she remains such caring mother. And this concerns children as well as husband.
I won't speak about feelings - it is too delicate, intimate field. Words are powerless here. And only during personal meeting with your fiancee you can feel something in her, which will give you a big power for life in this crazy world. Perhaps, it is called a "mysterious Russian soul". Maybe you'll be able to solve this riddle?

Question:  What is the weather like in St. Petersburg?
Answer:  In winter the temperature here sways from +20 to +5 degrees F, and in summer it reaches mark +68 degrees F. The sea creates a high humidity and that's why it often rains here. That's why don't forget to take an umbrella - it may stand in good stead for you. The warmest part of St. Petersburg is - Nevsky prospect. In summer during the daytime the temperature in the center happen to be 2-3 degrees higher than in the suburbs. In winter the difference can be 10-12 degrees. Don't forget to take warm clothes with you in winter. January and February are supposed to be the coldest months in St. Petersburg.

Question:  Which money is in Russia and where is it possible to exchange currency?
Answer:  From the first hours of being on St. Petersburg's ground you will need money. Paper money and metal coins are in demand in Russia. Paper money is in denomination 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 rubles, coins - 1, 5, 10, 50 kopeck, and also 1, 2 and 5 rubles. There are hundred kopecks in one ruble. It's possible to exchange cash dollars in numerous currency exchange offices, which are located in hotels, shops, and banks. It's not recommended to exchange dollars "from hands" at private persons - they can deceive.
There are bank machines where it is possible to take money from plastic credit cards (Visa, Mastercard/Eururocard, American Express) in banks and big shops. It is advisable to always have a reserve of cash rubles with you, because there are few shops and services in Russia where you can pay by plastic credit card. By the same reason it's not bad to reserve cash when you go out of the city - it's impossible to use plastic credit cards or exchange cash dollars in small towns.

Question:  In what figures is distance, capacity and mass measured in Russia?
Answer:  I assure you that if you go to a bar and ask for a quart or pint beer, nobody will understand you, because capacity of liquid is measured here in litres. So pint approximately corresponds to 0,6 litre. That's why if you order 0,5 litre beer, it will be a little bit less than pint. If you are a big lover of beer, you can order 1 gallon, which is equal to 4,5 litres. By the way, 1 pint of good beer cost about 60 cents. And one gallon petrol - 2,5 dollar. I don't offer you to drink petrol, I just help you to orient yourself in Russian prices.
Distance in Russia is measured in kilometers - 1 mile is equal to 1,6 kilometer. That's why if you are told that it is about 20 kilometers to the airport, divide it in two, and you will receive a distance in miles. For example, if you want to go from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, which is located on another side of the country, you will have to cover about 12.000 kilometers or 7.200 miles - almost the same as you covered from the USA to your fiancee.
Mass is measured in gramms and kilogramms. If you decide to buy 1 pound of smoked beef, this will be equal to approximately 0,4 kilogramm. 1 ounce is equal to approximately 28 gramms. By the way, 1 pound beef will cost you 1,5 dollar.

There also can be a lot of passengers under ground, but then it's possible to go from one side of the city to another in one hour. Besides, some stations are real underground architectural museums, which walls are reveted with natural stone - granite, jasper and motley marble. Especially beautiful are stations "Ploschad Vosstanija", "Gostiniy Dvor" and "Narvskaya". Our office for example is located near metro station "Sennaja ploshad", Gorohovaya 50, office in the yard, second entrance to the left, first floor. The cost of a journey is - 6 rubles.
The most comfortable kind of transport is taxi. Black "blocks" - is an international symbol, by which it's easy to recognize taxi among other cars. Last years they are started to be coloured yellow. Officially the cost of embarkation is 30 rubles, a tariff is about 10 rubles for 1 kilometer within the city. There are own taxes in big hotels, but their price is much higher. It's possible to order taxi directly from a hotel room or an apartment by phone.

Question:  Can I rent a car?
Answer:  The service of renting cars is not well developed in Russia - there are only few such companies in St. Petersburg. The price depends on class of a car and time of renting. Here is an address of a company BIRACS: per. Boytsova, 8, tel: 310-5356, fax: 319-4849, E-Mail: info@biracs.ru, web site: http://www.biracs.ru/

Hardly in one visit you'll be able to see all city's places of interest, but there are such ones among them, which are impossible not to be seen.
